Weblog Spam

I sent an email today to a Bulgarian telecommunications company because someone from one of their IP addresses was spamming my weblog. I get maybe 10 to 20 spam comments a day on this site - which I would be able to tolerate if only it wasn't the only source of comments! Thank God for mt_blacklist, but even so, this is getting ridiculous.

Sir,

At 23:55 tonight (GMT+1 in Belgium), the IP address 213.91.217.116 sent multiple comments to my Weblog. These comments were not genuine, but served to advertise various websites.

If you have the ability to see who was using that address to access the website www.salocin.com at that time, I would be grateful if you could ask them to stop this behaviour, and if this should fail, to disallow them the use of your network for the purpose of carrying out suck hijackings of my site. I do not have infinite bandwidth and can do without morons using my website as a billboard.

Sincerely,

...

100% d'accord que les spams sont une plaie de l'internet et que le fournisseur doit controler.

Ben oui, je jette un oeil de temps en temps sur ton site!

I don't know much about spam but I did find this really wicked website recently offering v1agra to men who can't stay hard...

Heh - funny.

It's reached epidemic proportions. mt_blacklist is blocking about 30 or 40 postings a day at the moment.
