October 15, 2004Gabriel Marquez book piratedGabriel Garcia Marquez's latest book has been pirated ahead of publication and is available for $4 in Bogota. Marquez is a Nobel-prize winner and his books are hugely anticipated by loyal fans. My question is - if you're a defender of music downloading for free, what do you make of this? Is this Ok? What if they were giving the book away for free, or making it available for download for free? Would that be Ok? What would be the difference between that and making music available for free? Surely if you think it's Ok for music to be obtained without payment, this is acceptable too. Maybe if they like the book, they'll go and buy it? Does anyone really believe that? you don't read books more then once, hence there is no reason to buy it if you liked it. There is reason to buy music you like. Posted by: Ryan at February 20, 2005 11:51 PMPost a comment
